What does an AI video really cost? A guide to credits and retries

Compare AI video costs by usable results, not credit counts alone. Understand quotes, retries, expiry and MeteorVid’s published launch pricing.

A plan with more credits is not necessarily cheaper. Credits are a unit chosen by each platform, and a clip may consume very different amounts depending on the model and settings. The useful question is how much you spend to get footage you can actually use.

Do not compare credit counts across platforms

One hundred credits on one service can buy a different amount of work from one hundred on another. Compare the same task instead: the model, duration, resolution, format, audio setting and number of variations.

Check whether the displayed price covers the complete request. A longer duration, an upscale or several variations can change the total. A subscription’s monthly fee tells you very little until you know how many of your intended clips it covers.

Budget for attempts, not just the first generation

Suppose a hypothetical attempt costs €1 and you need three attempts to get one usable clip. The footage has cost you €3, not €1. That is an example of budgeting, not a claim about any platform’s success rate.

Track the cost of rejected attempts as well as your final download. If most failures come from complicated action or unclear composition, simplifying the shot may help more than moving to an expensive model.

  • Record the complete quote before submitting.
  • Start with one variation while refining the idea.
  • Include planned audio, upscaling and finishing costs.
  • Set a maximum number of attempts before you begin.

MeteorVid’s published launch prices

The published monthly plans are Creator at €19 for 300 credits, Pro at €49 for 900 credits and Ultra at €99 for 2,000 credits. Published one-time top-ups are €10 for 100 credits, €25 for 250 credits and €50 for 500 credits.

These are launch prices, not an invitation to an active checkout. As of 19 October 2026, card payments are not active and generation requires approved beta access. Approved users receive a one-time 10-credit welcome gift, enough for a short Grok Imagine Fast clip at the current quote. It is not a daily allowance.

Use the quote in Create for the specific request. Do not divide a plan’s credits by ten and assume every model, duration or resolution has the same cost.

Expiry changes the value of a credit bundle

MeteorVid subscription grants are valid for 60 days after each grant. Top-ups are valid for 12 months after purchase. The welcome grant is valid for 60 days. Credits with the earliest expiry are spent first.

For occasional use, a large bundle can be poor value if you will not use it in time. Check expiry and cancellation terms before paying on any platform. A lower apparent unit price does not help if a substantial portion of the allowance goes unused.

Technical failure and creative disappointment are different

MeteorVid returns credits for confirmed technical non-delivery; refund grants are valid for 60 days. An unknown provider outcome stays pending during recovery rather than triggering another expensive submission. A delivered clip you do not like is not automatically a free retry.

Those distinctions matter when comparing services. Read the current failure and refund policy, save the quote, and keep the job details if you need support. Transparent pricing should include what happens when the attempt does not produce a file, not just the number on the Generate button.
